Born in Toronto, Canada, Laurens completed his first renovation at age 15. From there, he apprenticed in Germany and returned to Canada to begin his construction business. Laurens has found Canada is home to some of the most advanced building techniques in the world, in terms of energy-efficiency and affordability. Laurens’ own home (see it here) is believed to have the lowest heat-loss calculation in Grey and Bruce counties (13,800 BTU). This home, like most LWC homes, features radiant-floor heating, and quality indoor air—achieved by using low-emissive materials.
Laurens strongly believes that a house built to last centuries must be aesthetically beautiful. His innate sense of balance and appreciation for art and travel bring creative influence to his work, uncompromised by his deep knowledge of structure and sound building techniques.
