Meet Laurens.

As a hands-on builder, Laurens is known for his meticulous attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to the highest quality standards. Clients consistently describe their experience as seamless and enjoyable, citing LWC’s reliability, superior craftsmanship, and creativity.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Laurens completed his first renovation at just 15 years old. After apprenticing in Germany, he returned to Canada and established his construction business in 1989, drawing inspiration from the country’s advanced building techniques in energy efficiency.

One of LWC’s most notable projects was Laurens’ former home in Owen Sound (featured here), believed to have had the lowest heat-loss calculation in Grey and Bruce counties (13,800 BTU). Like many LWC homes, it features radiant-floor heating and exceptional indoor air quality, achieved through the use of low-emissive materials. Inspired by 1800s stone homes and the Arts and Crafts movement, this custom-built residence (pictured below) embraces handcraftsmanship, natural materials, and timeless architectural details. It has been recognized for its superior insulation, bespoke details, and innovative building techniques.

Rooted in Dunrobin

Laurens and his family now proudly call Dunrobin, Ontario home. They have found Dunrobin to be a beautiful, welcoming place with a strong sense of community. Their 10-acre hobby farm, complete with horses and chickens, features a bespoke barn remodelled by Laurens himself. Laurens has meticulously renovated their bungalow and surrounding property, transforming it into a stunning country haven.

Never one to sit still, Laurens always has a project on the go, and continues to find creative ways to enhance the beauty and character of his property. His innate sense of balance and appreciation for art and travel bring creative influence to all of his work, uncompromised by his deep knowledge of structure and sound building techniques.
